Lily’s Late Harvest is crafted from grapes that are allowed to continue to ripen on the vine to intensify the flavour and sugar. The pineapple and citrus fruit notes are melded with cashew nut from maturation in French oak. Grapefruit acidity balances the lusciously sweet and silky palate to provide a cleansing finish to this dessert style wine that will have the ability to age for many years.
The blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro works exceptionally well in the Barossa Valley as all these varieties are very well suited to the soils and climate of the region. In addition there is a synergistic effect of the three varieties blended together with the sweet berry fruit of the Grenache blending perfectly with the depth and texture provided by the Mataro and Shiraz. The 2013 Pappys GSM is an exceptional wine with the nose displaying dark black fruits and spice mingling with hints of polished French oak. This rich fruit follows onto the palate with berry fruit and spice from the Grenache, whilst the Shiraz and Mataro provide depth, character and structure. It is an amazingly well flavoured and even palate with great poise and balance. There is some meaty complexity and silky tannin length. This wine will cellar well for up to ten years.
A unique style of sparkling red wine made from the classic Petit Verdot grape variety. This brilliant deep ruby red wine has aromas of blackberry, plums and typical Petit Verdot florals. These flow onto the palate and combine with a delightful creaminess, a result of the wine being matured in oak barrels for 14 months and on lees for a further 6 months in bottle. There is a wonderful fine mousse and a clean lingering finish that delights the senses.
The 2012 Grand Pappys Shiraz shows its “Barossa Pedigree” with the fruit hand selected from our very best vineyards. It has a lifted nose of sweet mulberry fruit and cedary oak. The palate is medium bodied with raspberry fruit, oatmeal characters and sweet spice. The palate is very even and rounded with great texture, mouthfeel and length.
Shiraz is perfectly suited to the warm Barossa Valley climate. The bouquet on our Pappy’s Paddock Shiraz is aromatic and lifted, with plum and dark cherry fruit with integrated oak. The palate has plush berry fruits, olives and layers of chocolate and sweet spice. A velvety tannin structure will allow the wine to age gracefully in bottle for ten or more years.
This wine was sourced from Premium Barossa Valley Vineyards that produce consistently high quality fruit. Fermented on skins for 10 days in potter fermenters, receiving twice daily pump overs. The wine was then pressed off and transferred direct to French oak barrels (50% new) where it matured for 2 years. Careful barrel selection then took place with only the most pristine barrels making the cut into FIRST PICK. A wine that will cellar for 10+ years.
Cabernet Sauvignon is suited to the Barossa Valley and is highlighted in this wines intense blackcurrant, cherry and mint in the aroma. Rich and full on the palate with flavours of currants, sweet spice and a firm palate coating tannin structure providing a long finish. The immense depth and power of this wine will ensure long term aging ability.
Petit Verdot is renowned for producing wines of great flavour, structure and colour and the Home Block Petit Verdot has all these distinctive characters. The aroma displays lifted floral, dark cherry and mint notes. The palate is full bodied with a dense core of savory black fruits, kitchen spices and cassis. The wine finishes with great vibrant fruit supported by fine grain French oak tannin.
This Chardonnay comes from the ‘High Patches’ of vineyard in Rowland Flat, Barossa Valley. White wines flourished under the 2017 vintage with the cool conditions perfect for retaining the lovely fruit characters and crisp balancing acidity. This modern style of Chardonnay has ample melon fruit, cashew nuts and a distinct flinty aroma. It is medium bodied with the focus on white peach, pears, some grapefruit and lemon pith. There is good complexity with the spicy French oak and a rich creamy texture. The wine finishes with good length of peach characters and nutty notes. The wine drinks well now or will reward cellaring for a few more years.
