2013 1847 Wines Pappy's GSM
The blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro works exceptionally well in the Barossa Valley as all these varieties are very well suited to the soils and climate of the region. In addition there is a synergistic effect of the three varieties blended together with the sweet berry fruit of the Grenache blending perfectly with the depth and texture provided by the Mataro and Shiraz. The 2013 Pappys GSM is an exceptional wine with the nose displaying dark black fruits and spice mingling with hints of polished French oak. This rich fruit follows onto the palate with berry fruit and spice from the Grenache, whilst the Shiraz and Mataro provide depth, character and structure. It is an amazingly well flavoured and even palate with great poise and balance. There is some meaty complexity and silky tannin length. This wine will cellar well for up to ten years.
